To send an email to a patient from the Diary, click the appointment, then in the "SMS" button in the pop-up window.
This selection will open a sub-window in the diary where you can type an SMS message to send to the patient as long as they have a valid mobile phone number in the system. You will also have the option of using a pre-defined template for the SMS. You can create and edit these templates under Settings->SMS Templates.
